Stump removal.
A stump left behind gets in the way of the lawn, the mower and anything you want to build. Our team grinds stumps out with a large tracked grinder, taking them down below ground level, so the space is yours again. Speak directly to the arborist: call Drew.

Stump grinding, explained.
A grinder with a spinning cutting wheel chews the stump into mulch, from the top down to below ground level. It is faster, cleaner and far less damaging to your yard than digging a stump out. The roots near the surface are ground too, and what is left underground breaks down over time.
How a stump job goes.
- 1
You talk straight to Drew, who looks at the stump and the access on site and quotes the job, free.
- 2
Our team checks for anything to watch for, such as pipes, cables, sprinklers, fences and paving.
- 3
Our team grinds the stump down below ground level, taking the larger surface roots with it.
- 4
The grindings are left, or taken away, the way you agreed, and the area is left tidy and ready to use.
Tight access.
Gates, steps and narrow side passages do not always stop the job. If the access is tight, we will make it work where the job allows. Tell Drew about the gates, steps and narrow sides when you call, and we will say what is possible.
Which stumps we grind.
- 1
Stumps of any size, from a small garden tree to a big old gum.
- 2
Stumps left from a tree removal by us or by anyone else.
- 3
Hardy stumps. Some trees, such as poinciana, regrow stubbornly, so we will often suggest treating the stump for a couple of weeks first to kill the roots.
- 4
Several stumps in one visit, which is easier on everyone.
Having a tree taken out?
When we remove a tree, the stump is treated so that it does not grow back. If you also want it ground out, ask when you book. We can do it on the same visit, while the gear is already on site.
How deep we grind.
Usually well below the surface, so you can lay turf over it. If you want to plant a garden bed or build on the spot, tell Drew, and we will grind to the right depth for what is going in.
What happens to the grindings.
- 1
Left on site as mulch for your garden beds.
- 2
Used to fill the hole, with extra soil on top.
- 3
Taken away, if you would rather.
Before you book.
- 1
Tell us how we get to the stump: gates, steps and narrow sides.
- 2
Tell us what you plan to put there, so we grind to the right depth.
- 3
Find out about underground pipes and cables near the stump. The free Before You Dig Australia service shows what is buried on your block.
- 4
Mark any sprinklers or irrigation lines.
